Motorway signs have a blue background. This sign marks the start of the motorway, where motorway regulations begin: the maximum speed for cars is 70 mph and certain road users are prohibited.
When you see it
- ◆ Learner drivers may only use motorways with an approved instructor in a dual-control car.
- ◆ No pedestrians, cyclists, mopeds, agricultural vehicles or slow vehicles are allowed.
- ◆ Join from the slip road, build up speed and merge with the traffic flow.
- ◆ The maximum speed limit for cars is 70 mph.
