Regulatory sign
No stopping (clearway)
A blue circle with a red ring and a red diagonal cross marks a clearway. You must not stop on the main carriageway, even to pick up or set down passengers, except in an emergency.
When you see it
- ◆ Do not stop on the main carriageway at any time on a clearway.
- ◆ It keeps fast or busy roads flowing freely.
- ◆ Stop only in a genuine emergency or where a separate sign permits.
- ◆ Use a lay-by or side road if you need to stop.
