Regulatory sign
Maximum height
A red ring showing a height means the maximum height of vehicle allowed beyond the sign. It warns of a low bridge, tunnel or overhead obstruction and is shown in both imperial and metric.
When you see it
- ◆ Do not pass if your vehicle, including any load, is taller than the figure shown.
- ◆ If you are unsure of your vehicle height, do not risk it -- find another route.
- ◆ It is most often used to protect low railway and canal bridges.
- ◆ Striking a bridge is a serious offence and can cause major disruption.
